Attachments

Attachments are an important part of support communications. This page explains how attachments are handled between Slack and Zendesk along with important considerations. Rest assured, attachments are never saved on our servers.

Attachments From Slack Into Zendesk

When files, photos, etc. are attached to Slack messages, they are uploaded to Zendesk and included as attachments in the Zendesk ticket. In rare cases, very large files sent from Slack may fail to upload to Zendesk. In these cases it's recommended to view/download files directly from Slack.

Attachments From Zendesk Into Slack

When sending files, photos, etc. from Zendesk, it's important to only use inline attachments. Inline attachments are sent to Slack as a hyperlink to the Zendesk hosted content, and expanded in Slack.

Only inline attachments are supported

When sending messages from Zendesk, it's important to only use inline attachments. If you absolutely need to upload a file into Slack, it's recommended to do so directly in the Slack thread outside of Zendesk.
